Going along with my previous post on how siblings feel about/ deal with other siblings with disabilities, i found an insightful article on this topic.

This article shows how siblings feel about this topic. It is a very truthful article and can give truthful information to families, teachers and therapist needing information if they have a family in need.

This video also shows how a sister feels about her sister who has cerebral palsy. The video shows a real view on this topic.
Jessa, I enjoyed the video. Children need thier parents attention. It does not matter if it is for a few seconds, children need something. I think that siblings understand the reason why thier sibling with a disability recieves more attention. The girl in the video said she just assumed that she had to help. Being the oldest sibling means you are more likely to help with the younger siblings. I think when the sibling has a disability the other siblings take on some of the stress off the parents. They might help with simple things, but its one less thing that the parents have to worry about.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you did. It is very true. I agree being the oldest sibling you do have the "intended" responsibility to take care of younger siblings.
