This week, I want to focus on children who have ADHD and how stress affects the child and the family. There are so many stresses for a parent when they find out that their child has ADHD. When parents find this out, many questions may go through their head like: What can I do? Who can I call? Can the school help my child? The article below shows how one family dealt and helps their child through the stress of having ADHD.
Jessa, I really enjoyed this article. Its interesting that parents feel like they have "failed" when thier children have a problem. I don't think parents should feel like they failed once they find out thier child has special needs, I think that they should feel like they are doing the right thing. Parents are supposed to help thier children and make sure they have opportunites to succeed. When a parent has a child with special needs it doesnt mean they failed that. All it means is that they have to do things differently to help thier child be successful.
ReplyDeleteI think this sense of failure causes majority of the stress. I think that this comes from society not making people aware of different disorders. I think ADHD is becoming more popular and that people view it as negative because most of what is heard is negative.
I applaude the mom in this article, because she blogging and making awareness of ADHD. This will help another parent who is in the same situation.
I am glad you enjoyed it! It is very sad to hear that some parents may feel this way if their child has a problem in school or with ADHD. The article may really help a family or parent who has a child that is struggling from ADHD and needs help!
